Edwardsburg
is a small community located in beautiful Southwest Michigan near the Indiana State border. Five rivers and more than 250 lakes await you in Southwestern Michigan for swimming, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, water tubing, fishing and boating. Edwardsburg is situated near the St. Joseph River, Michigans second largest river, which also offers plenty of recreational opportunities for visitors. Edwardsburg is also just minutes from the neighboring river town of Niles. Located on the shores of the St. Joseph River, Niles offers fishing along the banks of the river, several nice community parks and golf, and if you are visiting in August, be sure to attend the Niles Riverfest. Their “Anything That Floats” event is lots of fun for participants and for those watching! Other places to see in the Edwardsburg area include the Fernwood Botanic Garden & Nature Center, the Booming Acres Emu Farm in Buchanan and Captain Mike’s Fun Park in Bridgman. Southwest Michigan is home to many county fairs and festivals throughout the summer and fall seasons, including the Four Flags Area Apple Festival, usually held in September in Niles, and the popular Venetian Festival in St.Joseph, which is the largest community celebration held in Southwest Michigan.

Southwest Michigan enjoys four seasons with a moderate climate, surrounded by vast forests, fertile farmlands, the Lake Michigan shoreline and numerous inland lakes and rivers. Snowfall is moderate along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Heavier snowfall in the state is found in the Upper Peninsula and the upper reaches of the Lower Peninsula. The Great Lakes help moderate winter temperatures, but still, average highs in January in the southwest portion of the state can be expected to be in the 20s. Breezes along the shoreline of Lake Michigan helps keep temperatures cooler in the summertime and humidity is considered average. Statewide annual rainfall is around 35 inches, with the higher amounts in the upper regions of the state and along the Lake Michigan border.
