Boyne Falls
is a tiny town located in the heart of one of Michigan’s most popular recreational playgrounds. Incorporated in 1893, the village is named for the falls on the nearby Boyne River, and is surrounded by peaceful rolling countryside. Located in picturesque Charlevoix County near Lake Charlevoix, Boyne Falls offers visitors fine boating and fishing opportunities, swimming, and almost any other kind of water sport imaginable. Nearby state parks have hiking and biking trails, and some of the best golf courses in Michigan are located near Boyne Falls. In wintertime, visitors come to Boyne Falls to ski at one of the area’s three prime ski resorts. Enjoy downhill skiing, sledding, snowmobiling and cross country skiing in a beautiful, pristine location. Nearby Boyne City and Charlevoix have unique shops for browsing, antique stores and art galleries to discover and fine restaurants for dining. And, for more excitement, visit the Venetian Festival, AppleFest, or one of three waterfront art fairs in neighboring downtown Charlevoix.

The Great Lakes dominate northern Michigan%u2019s weather. What is known as %u201Clake effect snow squalls%u201D bring locally heavy snow to northern and western Michigan, with the southwest receiving much less snow. Summers tend to be sunny as the cool water of the Lakes chills the air near the Earth%u2019s surface, producing a stable atmosphere. The Lakes also modify summer high temperatures, making the northern parts of the state a popular vacation spot. Summer temperatures are typically in the upper 70s to lower 80s, with cool nights. Autumn is too cool for swimming, but is a great time for other outdoor attractions. The luminous phenomenon known as the Northern Lights is usually visible from northern Michigan 30 nights per year, most commonly in March, April, September and October.
