Three-Oaks
is one of the eight designated communities of Southwest Michigan's beautiful "Harbor Country" located along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Three Oaks actually lies slightly inland from the lake. With a population of approximately 1,800 residents, Three Oaks has become well known for its famed Acorn Theater located in the historic Featherbone Factory and the Viickers Theater, an early 20th century restored "art house." Shopping in area art galleries, antique stores and specialty shops is another favorite past time and the countryside is also filled with "u-pick" farms and farmstands. One of the main attractions in Three Oaks is, of course, the spectacular Lake Michigan beaches and majestic sand dunes. Warren Dunes State Park is to the north of Three Oaks and features a large beach area, hiking trails and camping. Other activities in the area include canoeing and kayaking, swimming, fishing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. In addition, Three Oaks is just a short drive to Southwest Michigan's wine country where several wineries offer tours and special wine tasting events. Three Oaks is host to several special events throughout the year, including a summer concert series in the park in the summertime and an annual Blues Fest. Three Oaks is also well known for having the largest Flag Day Celebration and Parade in the country.

Southwest Michigan enjoys four distinct seasons and there is a saying that goes, "if you don't like the weather, wait a day and it will change." This is because both the warm, humid air coming up from the Gulf of Mexico, and cold, dry air from the Arctic influence the climate. Located near the shores of Lake Michigan, the climate is also influenced by the lake effect, which helps keep temperatures mild during the summer and increases the moisture content in the air throughout the year. In the winter, this moisture condenses as snow as it reaches the land, creating heavy snowfalls in some areas, known as "snow squalls" on the downwind shores of the lakes. Showers and thunderstorms are common in the spring and summer, and fall is often the sunniest time of the year in Michigan.
