Cedarville
is an old-time fishing village located in Mackinac County near the shore of Lake Huron and St. Martin Bay, and within the Les Cheneaux Islands resort area. There are 36 islands in all along 12 miles of Lake Huron shoreline with sheltered bays, channels and quiet coves. Sailing and boating are popular here because they are protected from the Great Lakes’ winds. Other activities include hiking, fishing, hunting, kayaking, canoeing, golf, birding and nature walks, and fall color tours. Cedarville offers a fine marina, lodging, shopping and restaurants for visitors, and is just a shore drive to most of the towns and events in the Les Cheneaux area. For example, Cedarville is 45 minutes from well-known Mackinaw Island, which is a step back in time to the Victorian era, where no cars are allowed, and travel is by foot or bicycle, or horse and carriage. Access to the island is by ferries from Mackinaw City or St. Ignace. Other nearby attractions to Cedarville includes Castle Rock, Mystery Spot, Pictured Rocks along the shore of Lake Superior and the Soo Locks and Soo Locks Boat Tours. And, Tahquamenon Falls State Park has several hiking trails through the park with different views of the falls. Cedarville, in Michigan’s Eastern Upper Peninsula is also beautiful in wintertime and is a good place for cross country skiing, sledding and snowmobiling.

Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula enjoys moderate summers and cold winters. For decades, visitors have been coming to this area to escape the summer heat and enjoy the cooling effect of the lake breezes. The Lakes affect all areas of the weather, and summers tend to be sunny as the cool water of the Lakes chill the air near the earth%u2019s surface, producing a stable atmosphere. In winter, the area becomes a wonderland of ice and snow, with an average of between 40-70 inches of snow, depending on location. Rainfall in upper Michigan is generally around 30 inches per year, with occasional thunderstorms in spring and summer. Autumn is sunny with mild days and cool nights %u2013 too cold for swimming, but just right for other activities such as fall color tours, antiquing, golfing, and exploring the lake-studded countryside.
